Enjoy the beauty of Capetown, get up close and personal with a colony of African penguins, savor South African wines in the beauty of their wine country, sample Bobotie, koeksisters and other specialties of the region, and live the dream of a true African Safari! Experience the thrill of two game drives daily, a guided bush walk, and during the “down” time, savor chef’s specialties and local beverages and wines, indulge in a spa treatment, enjoy nature, sit by the pool, experience a hot air balloon ride just to name a few.
ITINERARY:
Day 1
Direct flight from Washington Dulles to Capetown: Arrive 3:10pm or 4:10pm the following day. (time springs ahead sometime in March)
Day 2
Private transfer from Capetown airport to Commodore Hotel or similar.
South African special dinner with wines.
Day 3
8 am hotel pick-up for private day tour to Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Penguin Colony and much, much more! Seaside lunch included.
Dinner: Dinner on the V&A Waterfront with seafood (or other) and great South African wines!
Day 4:
Stellenbosch wine tour with lunch. A beautiful day enjoying the scenic views, wine tastings and sights in the famous South African wine country.
Dinner - 14 courses of African specialties with live entertainment!
Day 5:
Mid morning flight to Hoedspruit (a little over 2 hour nonstop flight)
Arrive Kapama River Lodge by Kruger National Park.
Evening Game Drive followed by Dinner
All meals, 2 game drives daily, bush walk, drinks.
Swimming pool. Spa treatments
· 05:00 wake-up call
· 05:30 meet for tea, coffee, homemade pastries and fresh fruit
· 6:00 depart from the main entrance of the lodge where guides will escort guests to their game vehicle
· Mid-drive stop for hot drinks, homemade rusks and biscuits at a lookout point, watering hole or designated area in the reserve. Your guide and assistant guide always know the best place to stop
· 09:00 return to the lodge after an approximate 3-hour drive for a full breakfast
- 16:00 gather for refreshments and light snacks
- 16:30 depart from the main entrance of the lodge
- Mid-drive stop for drinks and snacks
- 19:30 arrive back at the lodge with time to freshen up before dinner
- 20:00 dinner is served
Day 6
Morning and Evening Game Drive
BUSH WALKS AT KAPAMA
Under the guidance of a skilled guide and assistant guide, small groups (up to 8 guests) are taken into the reserve and shown how to look for animals using traditional tracking skills such as footprints, spoor patterns and scent marking. Our guides’ knowledge and experience extend to pointing out various plants that are used for their medicinal value. Look down and marvel at the world that is underfoot with the abundance of insects and creatures so often overlooked.
Day 7
Morning and evening game drives. Panorama Tour to include God’s Window, Bourke Potholes, Blyde River Canyon and Harrie's Pancakes
Day 8
Early game drive. Late morning transfer to airport.
HOW MUCH?
$6495 per person based on DOUBLE occupancy, 3 nights in 4- star Cape Town Hotel, all tours as indicated above, ALL meals, drinks with meals, airport transfers, domestic flights within South Africa as indicated above, tour guide gratuities. International air is separate and is currently pricing at approximately $1200 round trip per person with direct flights to Cape Town from Washington Dulles.
Recommended insurance can be purchased separately through Travel Guard and may run
approximately $300 per person.
